Minerals — Fossils — Petrified Wood

If you visit our Casa del Sole, you’ll find our international mineral collection. There is a special display case with local minerals. Unfortunately, the gem stones of the Engadin and Bergell were not commonly known to the public. Our collection represents all the local minerals. In a separate room we exhibit the fossils and petrified wood.

This collection of natural findings is not only open to the hotel guests, but also to the local people.

There is a special documentation as well as information in the library on all the minerals, where they come from and how they were found. Detailed maps are available for you to look at the trails and the sites where the minerals were found. Due to frequent demands for a very unique gift, we now have a great selection of local minerals, either in form of a crystal, or processed for the use in jewelry. We have also created necklaces, earrings and pins from local minerals and crystals—something to remember the great time you had in the Engadin.

We are also able to get for you the special edition of the Lapis book: Alpine crystals. It describes all the minerals of the local mountain areas.

Every Wednesday during the summer months of June until September, we offer daily tours with Mr. Silivio Lareida to the local mineral sites. You can also book private tours at the hotel. Tools can be rented from the tour guide. Good, high hiking boots are required, as well as good weatherproof clothing, backpack, snacks and drinks.
